CIArb Issues 2025 Guidelines on Third-Party Funding

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) has released its Guideline on Third-Party Funding (2025), providing a comprehensive overview of how funding operates in both litigation and arbitration contexts.

Apex Litigation Finance highlights the CIArb Guideline on Third-Party Funding — a new milestone in the evolution of global litigation funding.

The guideline sets out best-practice standards for transparency, due diligence, disclosure and funder–party relationships, marking a significant step toward greater consistency and confidence in the use of funding globally.

At Apex Litigation Finance, we welcome this development.
The guidance reflects many of the principles we already apply in practice: proportionate disclosure, robust due diligence and a partnership-based approach that prioritises fair access to justice.

As the litigation funding market matures, frameworks such as CIArb’s support a more transparent and responsible environment for claimants, funders and legal professionals alike.
